You take off your underwear and think: F… that doesn’t smell good. Not only women but also men can sometimes smell different from what they’re used to. Don’t start using all kinds of products to clean things up down there. That’s probably what caused the new smell in the first place.
Vaginal douches, rinsing solutions and all those methods you use to try to get rid of something are usually not the answer. Holding the showerhead against yourself and flushing everything out isn’t a good idea either. Your vulva has an opening and that is your vaginal canal. She is sensitive to stress and other changes in your body. What you don’t want is to disturb the flora and fauna balance. Even a strong stream of water washes away important bacteria.

But what should you do? Know that during your cycle, even if you no longer menstruate, your scent can change sometimes. If the smell is really too strong, go to your doctor and have a bacterial culture taken. Don’t assume that a Canesten treatment is always the solution.
And you, dear man, you can smell different than usual too. A simple tip I can give you: after peeing, don’t just give your p*nis a little shake but also wipe it with a piece of toilet paper. And of course, the most hygienic option is circumcision.
What I often hear during the Vulva Power workshop are stories from women who feel deeply ashamed of the scent of the beloved place between their legs. Maybe a distant uncle once made a silly joke about a fishy smell and now, for the rest of your life, you think there shouldn’t be any scent coming from that beautiful flower. Well, from now on, that’s over. Because flowers have fragrance and those of sexually active, self-aware women definitely do.
During sex, before and after, if you pay close attention, you can notice different scents and flavors. This is normal. Nothing to be ashamed of. Scent belongs to sex. A friend of mine once said: if I want to smell or taste soap, I’ll stick my nose inside a perfumery. So dear people, feel free. Know that scents are part of it, but take care of your hygiene.
Love,
Dr. Juicy
